I’m looking into the GoPro cameras. Does anyone have any experience with these. I’m thinking about using it outside with the kids and possibly filming some hunting next fall.

Anyone know the difference between the hero 2 and the new hero 3?

    Any tips would be great.

My brother got the Hero 2 last year and it was awesome, had good footage of dusting roosters in South Dakota.

I just got the hero 3 silver edition for xmas, have not used it yet, but its smaller, has better sound and can be controlled by a app on your phone to be turned on and off… I have to do more reading but from what I am hearing the Hero 3 is the newer and better one…

    Good luck,

    Jake

Yes I have the new hero 3 white and its awesome. We routed the computer to the x box at my friends so we can watch the videos on the big screen. Can’t wait to use it musky fishing next summer. The phone app is pretty cool. You can see a live feed of the camera through the phone so you can line up the camera. Or if your buddy is in an ice shack 50 feet away with one you can watch live what’s going on in his shack Haha.

Mom bought dad one for his B-day last year (Hero 3 white edition). It is a really fun item to have. He has tried it mounted to his chest, head and gun when pheasant hunting. I used it when taking the kids sliding. Some really cool footage and adds something to the family pics/events when edited down.

I am reading a lot of guys using them ice fishing and spearing. I am waiting to see some “strapped to the spear” footage.

I didn’t get one originally because I did not want footage that was all distorted with the field of view they had on the original wide angle. I believe the GoPro 3 gives you more option on the wide angle and has made minimized the distortion. I believe this is only in the black edition.

I’d be interested in seeing footage and hearing about it. I haven’t bothered researching it yet, because I won’t be in the market until spring.

The Hero2 allows for making this adjustment as well.
