I’ve been saying it since the end of last year. They have a team that can go REALLY deep in the tournament if they don’t get hurt. Leading the nation in Rebounding, their offensive rebounding is INSANE. They are an amazing defensive team and they finally have experienced guards who can handle ball pressure. With all of this they can play 11 guys without losing a thing.
January 7, 2013 at 1:27 am #1127587So this Tubby guy may still know how to coach or did he hire and offensive coordinator?
January 7, 2013 at 1:35 am #1127591They are a fun team to watch…very atletic and WOW can that Ellenson kid jump! Who says white kids can’t jump… Might have to try to get to a game this year.
Is Tubby’s kid still an assistant or did they let him go after his DWI?
January 7, 2013 at 1:38 am #1127595He still coaches. Their offense never worked before because they didn’t have strong guards who could handle B1G pressure and strength. Now that they have good guards, they are very dangerous!
That Ellenson was a state high jumper!
January 7, 2013 at 1:49 am #1127602Isn’t Andre Hollins a junior? He did well as a freshman…. hasn’t been their guard play as much as lack of a legitimate big man and depth. They have basically the same squad as last year plus the return of Mbakwe.
I heard….7′ jumper
January 7, 2013 at 3:02 am #1127622They haven’t been able to get the ball to their big men. Andre Hollins is a soph. Austin Hollins is a Junior. They have the same roster as last year with the return of Mbakwe. He isn’t the only reason they are better. The guard play this year is so much better. You can’t do anything in the B1G without guards. It’s proven every year. You need solid guards and a big man. Which we have.
January 7, 2013 at 3:22 pm #1127716Been waiting for them to become a power in the B1G for some time. Should have been last year, but injuries are always a problem for any team. They also have depth and experience at all positions.
This will be an elite year for the B1G period. A fun year to watch!!!
It will probably be a tough one for the Badgers, it will be interesting to see what Bo does with his young talent. I think we will still be vying for a NCAA bid, but for Bo to maintain his 4th place finishes or higher, he’s going to have to get a lot from his underclassmen.

January 7, 2013 at 3:37 pm #1127723They are talented for sure. Too bad this is the toughest year in recent memory for great teams in the Big 10.
FryDog62Posts: 3696January 7, 2013 at 3:41 pm #1127726There’s a chance the Gophers will be even better as the season goes along, despite the competition getting stronger. Mbakwe is getting his confidence and agility back…more so every game. And ‘Dre Hollins and Joe Coleman now are Sophomores and maturing into impact players. Will it be in time to all come together for the conference tourney or NCAA? Who knows, but this is the best shot this team has had in 15 years. Barring any key injuries, should be a fun season at the barn !
January 10, 2013 at 1:08 am #1128822Gophers – Illini on the B1G network in a few minutes, should be a good one!!!

Wow, they destroyed them on their court? I better not get to excited and jinx them, but we appear to have the real deal this year. Thank you Tubby!
