    Have always gone to Log Cabin Bait and Border Bait on Wheelers Point. Is Border Bait back open since the fire? Haven’t been up in a while.

    If you are going this route…

    Freds Bait just on the West side of Deer river just before you go N at the White Oak Casino.

    (218) 246-8710

    Otherwise Border Bait out on Wheelers Point.

    Yes, Border Bait is open and well stocked. Still doing some const but they are alive and well.

    I have had good luck with Timberline Sports/Gas Station in Blackduck, however its a good 1.5 to 2 hours short of LOTW, if going to Red Lake, usually get bait from there too. I also have really good luck with Bluewater bait in Bemidji, they tend to give really good measure.

    We stopped again at Lucky’s last fall and The Log Cabin as well. I must say Lucky’s put the others to shame. He had some of the nicest shinners that I have seen up there in 14 years!

    BOTH top notch
    Lucky’s has tackle, which is specifically meant for LOTW and Rainy River, that you won’t find anywhere else
