LX5 Battery

Hooked my LX5 up to the charger on Christmas Day after done fishing. Took it off the charger yesterday before going fishing and it read 100%. Drove 15 minutes to the lake and I noticed it was at 50%. Fished for about 2 hours and couldn’t get any readings on the flasher. Bummer since it was 3:45 and gills were on fire. Still managed 15 before the battery went dead. This was one of the “hot” deals from Reeds about 3 years ago. I only paid about $300 so what a great deal. I love this flasher. My question is what is the best 9 amp battery to replace this one and do I need to bring this battery along to give in order to get a new one without paying a “core” charge? By the way this unit is going to the FW, my sons gave me a new LX6 for xmas! Can’t wait to give it whirl.

The battery problby isn’t bad. Take the dcs charger off and charge it with a alligator clip charger. Something is screwy with those dcs chargers.

No core charge on these batteries. Look around for the cheapest priced 9amp battery. If you have a bunch of stuff to order from Amazon, they are under 15 bucks. Otherwise if you need it fast, then your local baitshop should have supply.

I bought the same LX-5 from Reeds and my battery went this year as well. 3-4 years out of a battery is pretty good I would say. If proper charging is not done you would be lucky to get that. Needed one quick and just picked up one at Gander Mtn for $24.99.

No knock on Reeds here I love that place!

I replaced my Reeds special LX5 battery last year before it went bad. Some people do it every year since they run about 20 bucks or less. Likely you need a new battery. Mills has 9 ampers very reasonable. As does Gander probably. If that doesnt work then first post is it but you need a new battery anyways. I carry a spare as well on big trips.

Any battery shop should have a 12V SLA 9ah battery with the right terminals. You will likely pay an arm and a leg for it. If you get one from the bait shop or a sporting good shop it will likely be about $40 for a 9ah.

If I was you, I would go to amazon and order two. Keep one as a spare (keep it charged though!) and use the other. They should only run you about $20 each. UB1290 is a model # a battery shop should be able to match you up with.

    Mine seems to work fine.

I need to replace my battery from my reeds special lx-5 as well. I still use the original battery, just doesnt seem to last as long.

Thanks ordered two. $47 and change with shipping. All I could find at Scheels/Cabelas/local shops were 8amp, don’t know if a huge difference but ordered the 9 amp ones
