Searched the forums and online elsewhere couldn’t really find anything good, but what is your guys opinion on new rods having to be broken in? And with the cold weather would it be good idea in it bc I would love to hit the river with em still. New 7’mlf Triump rod, Avid 66mm, and a rage 610mxf, and the triumph I am not worried about but the more expensive high modulus rods Im concerned.

The only way to brake them in is….to fish with them, once you catch a fish its broke in !

just do what I do, loan them to Jesse for a few months. He’ll catch a bunch of small fish with them and then they are ready to go.

No “break in” on rods…however, if left in subzero temps for hours graphite/glass composite rods can “slow down”.
It was -5 here this morning, dunno how cold it is on Pool 4 but not likely that cold…

Is there a sign up page for this on scvwl.com or do we need to get approval from him on facebook

At least I give the rods a chance to actually have fish on them, not much can be said once broken in and returned

you just don’t see me catching big fish with them because I need to let them rest once in a while.

When I break in a new rod, it consists of a few casts in the backyard.

Nice batch of eyes is always a nice way to break them in! I took my new ice rods I just built out last night and popped a few nice eyes on slender spoons. Good luck if you get out on P4
