I have an 2003 F350 diesel dually I need to replace the front hubs with bearings. What type of grease is recommended for the vacuum actuated part. In these cold Wisconsin winters am not sure regular grease would be to thick and not let the hubs lock.

    Thanks

Not sure if they are the same but I did the auto vacuum hubs on my 2004 F150 this past spring due to one had a torn air bladder in one of the hubs. They came pre greased so just cleaned everything up and put it all back together. Make sure to check your vacuum before it gets put back together just encase you have a leak somewhere. With the fords when you lose vacuum it goes into 4×4 and I had just enough leak to have one hub engauge when the truck was under heavy load.

Tom I always use a quality wheel bearing grease, the key is moderation. A thin film is all you need to coat the lock outs and you will be trouble free.

X2 Keep in mind NOT to damage those vacuum seals on the spindle when doing the bearing hubs

Easiest and cheapest way is to do away with these vaccum hubs, replacing them with WARN manual locking hubs.

I have had the manual lockouts on older trucks ….now I am old and lazy really like just having to move a switch to get into and out of 4 wheel drive.

Make sure to get the 2 new seals per side, or you will be taking it apart again.

The new hubs came with the new seals.
