how do I catch a bowfin

I mainly sight fish for them, shallow bays year round. A sturdy rod with heavy braid, texas rigged something (black/blue), sturdy hook. they will spook but get that lure in front of them quick and they will roll on it. set hook hard and hang on! my guess for really big ones, thick cover, maybe try some sort of live bait… good luck!
