After reading all the ice reports the last couple weeks. This may actually play in our favor. The last couple days near 50 degrees has cleared the skim ice from pool 16 backwaters. The snow should go right in the water. Then then next 5 days or so show mid teens at night with highs around freezing with some clouds but no snow. This snow could suck for those with a inch or two of ice. Be safe all.Don’t push it. Was going to early ice last year and didn’t. A guy went through the ice and died about a quarter mile from were I was going.
December 19, 2012 at 12:47 pm #1121861Were right on the edge of it so they are predicting only a trace for us. I hope they are right.

We are a little north of this! So if everybody could lean to the south a little that would be great!
December 19, 2012 at 1:29 pm #1121877I hope all of Iowa and southern Mn get dumped on. We need the moisture so badly. Maybe we will get lucky and it will cover Illinois and Indiana also. The corn belt needs precip!
December 19, 2012 at 2:05 pm #1121893I agree that we really need the moisture in the soil but this is not going to help our local bid for safe ice conditions
Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559December 19, 2012 at 2:07 pm #1121894Our local weather here in Rochester said 1-3 for us, but also said we were right on the edge so things could change. Can’t change the weather so I’ll just do with what comes.
bigpikePosts: 6259December 19, 2012 at 2:14 pm #1121898The weather man said 1-3 for us but I noticed he didn’t mention inches or feet. I am guessing after the last prediction he decided to keep an open mind and prediction
December 19, 2012 at 3:26 pm #1121918here it comes! we are right on the warning to watch, so where goes nobady knows.

I’m just happy this snow is hitting open water here.
X2….I’ve had whitetails on the brain this fall so my boat needs a wash. And Stabil run thru, and a top-off of fuel. I bet the walleye’ll be biting….I’ll get a couple more chores done and I’ll be headed to the lake with the Lund in tow. I just hope I can get it back home before the roads start getting sloppy.
I invited the wife to go along but she says the laundry needs doing. She does laundry EVERY night,I don’t understand why she wouldn’t skip a night to go on the boat one last time this season.

December 19, 2012 at 9:52 pm #1122038I just looked at the upper midwest dopplar radar and from Kansas city to Omaha its rain right now. From Omaha to Fargo its light to medium snow and its all coming from the S.W. and going due N.E. Moisture is coming up from as far as kansas with very few breaks in the clouds, solid clouds on the dopplar. The leading edge of this storm is just north of me about 40 miles. It hasen’t started snowing yet but the clouds sure look like it could. Were going to get alot of snow if the temps stay below freezing and the moisture from Kansas makes it this far north. Right now we’er hovering right around 32 degrees, its definately going to snow.
December 19, 2012 at 11:18 pm #11220521/2 hr ago it was light snow, now its coming down pretty good. The grounds still fairly warm but in about an hour it should start sticking.
December 20, 2012 at 12:02 am #1122064Here in central Wisconsin we are on the edge of 9″-12″ and 12″-16″, not going to help our ice situation at all!!!
December 20, 2012 at 12:47 am #1122089Really snowing hard here now and the grounds almost white and if snows like this all night there will be 6″ by sunrise.
