    Well, it wasn’t grandma’s recipe…

Not happy about how they came out, but learned a few things:

    1. OK to us the fish oil. couldn’t taste walleye at all.

    2. Don’t add vanilla. it just didn’t help.

    3. Donuts taste like their flour, so use one you like.

If you like them fluffy and lite, add some extra baking powder… If someone needs sinkers, i’ve got some.

    4. Cooking time was easy: when they are brown.

    5. Dig harder and find grandma’s recipe. Not all recipes are created equal…

    Old Boy Scout recipe,

Pillsbury biscuit tube in the reffer section,
Peal outer paper and whack the tube to open,
Pull apart and poke a hole in the middle and widen it out,
Drop into a whole melted can of shorting over an open fire,
Turn over once after they brown on one side,
Remove after browning on both sides to a paper towel,
Dip one side in sugar and eat!

One thing for sure…a person can never screw up a spam sandwich…even with sinkers.

I belly laughed when I read that.

What I’ve learned about baking is this…you can cook with passion, but you better bake with your head (and recipe) Homemade donuts are “usually” pretty good. I might have to fire up a batch this weekend.
