While we are on the subject of Preality TV, I’ve gotten into Duck Dynasty this year. I don’t care if it is fake, these guys are hilarious ad-lib, improv artists. Normally I spend more time debunking reality shows as I watch, but I just enjoy Duck Dynasty for what it is, great TV.

I am not sure who I enjoy more, uncle Si’s quirkiness and good nature or Jase’s deadpan delivery.

Phil is hilarious, too. He delivers some of the funniest lines in the most serious of tones.

If I recall correctly.. they are out of Monroe Louisiana. I was in Monroe for a week last year for work. Definately a different world down there than what we are used to up here!

Pulled up Wikipedia just to verify that it was Monroe. Gotta read this:

Phillip Alexander “Phil” Robertson (born April 24, 1946) Created the Duck Commander duck call in 1972, as well as incorporated the Duck Commander company in 1973. [6] Phil has become a legend in Louisiana and in the duck-hunting world in general. [7] He played college football at Louisiana Tech University, starting ahead of Hall-of-Famer Terry Bradshaw, and was drafted by the Washington Redskins after his Junior year. He turned it down and quit football because it interfered with duck season.

Phil is often quoted as saying “Terry went for the bucks and I went for the ducks.”

I believe it was one of the old “Duckmen” videos in which Phil told a story of how he got in trouble with the coach because he’d often walk into the locker room on Saturday mornings just before the game, covered in blood and feathers, and say ‘So who we playin’ today, boys?’

Oh I am sure he was much better than Bradshaw and was so good he was bored and “chose” duck hunting over football. I can’t wait until I am an old geezer and I can start telling stories to my grand kids about how I was the greatest tournament fisherman in the world, but turned down a pro career to pursue application development.
