SharonModerator SE MetroPosts: 5497 December 7, 2012 at 1:44 pm #1118282 I’ve not had the best luck with AMDs. But they’re also all very old AMDs. I’d go with a new Intel Core i3, i5, or i7.

stuwest Elmwood, WIPosts: 2254 December 7, 2012 at 3:59 pm #1118335 i build a lot of desktops. On the advice of ASUS i now use only intel, mostly i7s.I suspect the advice would transfer to laptops…

flatfish Rochester, MNPosts: 2105 December 7, 2012 at 6:28 pm #1118429 I have an old desk top running an AMD dual-core with windows XP, and a new laptop windows 7 running Intel Pentium. Notice no difference. What does make a difference is having enough RAM memory IMHO. Next would be hard drive capacity with a high seek rate. just my .05$ worth
SharonModerator SE MetroPosts: 5497 December 11, 2012 at 7:06 pm #1119494 Well it’s been a while that we quit buying and using AMDs so I don’t recall specifics. I guess it just seems we have better luck overall with the Intel Core processors.
