    Do you put backing on the reel first or just put your preferred line on? Just a quick question thanks to those who respond I’m putting new line on all my reels tonight

    I haven’t seen one yet but if they follow suit with fly reels and have a fairly deep spool, I’d be looking at laying a cork line bed on the spool so that only a 100 yards or so of line is needed to fill it, especially if fishing panfish. Even my small spinning reels that don’t need the extra line for casting get some older line wound on as an underlayment, then the fresh stuff goes atop of it.

    I back all my reels and top off with 50-100′ of my line of choice for fishing…
