I know this isn’t fishing related, but this is interesting. Looks like Iowa has a sweetheart deal going on down there……

Here is where each Big Ten coach stands nationally in salary:
    4. Urban Meyer, Ohio State: $4.3 million
    6. Kirk Ferentz, Iowa: $3.835 million
    12. Brady Hoke, Michigan: $3.046 million
    15. Bo Pelini, Nebraska: $2.875 million
    18. Bret Bielema, Wisconsin: $2.64 million
    33. Bill O’Brien, Penn State: $2.3 million
    45. Mark Dantonio, Michigan State: $1.934 million
    54. Tim Beckman, Illinois: $1.6 million
    61. Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern: $1.26 million
    62. Kevin Wilson, Indiana: $1.26 million
    64. Jerry Kill, Minnesota: $1.2 million
    65. Danny Hope, Purdue: $970,000

Now, let’s have some fun and see what kind of bang schools are getting for their buck this year. Here’s how those same coaches would stack up if you looked at it in terms of wins per dollar spent:

    1. Fitzgerald: $157,500 per win
    2. Hope: $194,000 per win
    3. Kill: $200,000 per win
    4. Wilson: $315,000 per win
    5. Pelini: $319,444 per win
    6. O’Brien: $328,571 per win
    7. Bielema: $377,143 per win
    8. Hoke: $380,750 per win
    9. Dantonio: $386,800 per win
    10. Meyer: $390,909 per win
    11. Beckman: $800,000 per win
    12. Ferentz: $958,750 per win

Probably one of the most demanding jobs on the planet in terms of hours and stress.

    Happy Turkey Day

It sure is interesting when you look at it that way.

But it needs to be compared to revenues generated… they had a story on 60 Minutes about Michigan and Alabama and the silly money the make playing NCAA Football. Alabama really rakes it in & they pay Saban $5.9M/ Yr…

Yes Alabama U’s profit has almost tripled since Saban took over in 2007. I’d say he’s earned his keep.

As a Purdue alum Big G nailed it. Danny Hope has the Purdue program going backwards at an alarming rate. The revenues are plummeting due to lack of attendance and everything that goes with it. In this case Purdue got what they paid for and most everyone is ready to run him and the AD Morgan Burke out of West Lafayette.

Don’t forget that they all have “bowl” incentives and bonus’s on top of salary. There is a reason these guys duck the tougher competition.

They also talked about the lame duck games… those smaller schools get “guaranteed money” to play against the powerhouses. One small school AD they interviewed, said that they need a game like that every year, as it funds their “whole program” for the year. (they got $1M guaranteed, possibly more, to play the game ) Without that butt kicking game, they wouldn’t have a Football program.

Understood………however, those are small schools not going to a bowl anyway. If you wanna play big boy football and get paid big boy money to coach big boy football, then you shouldn’t be scared of a team such as North Carolina.

You play up to or down to your opponents, we’ve all been taught that since pee wee’s. I have a real problem (as you can tell ) with the U wanting all this money for football and then wanting to act like St. Johns or Duluth. Either man up or get out of the Big 10.

Sorry if I’ve taken this thread off topic.

How many of your top, long tendered mechanics can approach you and say ” Hey G, I won’t work on Rams on Mondays and Tuesdays because they are to hard and I can’t make enough money.”

Believe it or not, that does happen. Going through that right now on RAM 4500 & 5500’s…. nobody wants to work on them for the reasons you stated they want to do gravy work timing belts and waterpumps on older cars

    I see your point though…
