Sorry for an un-fishing-related post, but John Gagliardi, college football’s all-time winningest coach, has announced his retirement from coaching today. At age 86, he’s had an amazing run, amassing 489 wins in 64 years as a collegiate coach.

    Gagliardi to Retire

I realize that many of you couldn’t care less about small college football, but this touches dear to my heart because I dedicated 4 years of my life to Gagliardi. He truly is an amazing man who I am proud to have played for. Amidst the scandals of professional and big-time college football, he went about things with honesty and integrity and helped thousands of 18-year-olds mature into men.

So, hats off to you, John. You are an inspiration to me and to many. May your retirement be relaxing and filled with joy.
