40hp Yamaha tilt

I have a question about my 40 hp Yamaha with power tilt and trim. I have never owned a motor this big or with power tilt. My question is what happens when you hit a log or rock? Does it tilt back or is it pretty much in a fixed position and you just break things? Have had up to a 25 hp with manual tilt, seem to find rocks occasionally and wonder how much damage to expect.

When an object is hit hard enough there is a release valve that will let the motor kick up.
