VRBO Vacation company??

Hi,
Has anyone here dealt with a company called http://www.VRBO.com ? Either with listing your vacation home for rental through them, or, actually renting a vacation place from them? I have done some homework on them as the daughter and FW want to stay at one of their locations, but they seem reluctant to provide answers to seemingly basic travel questions. My gut feeling is it may be a scam, but thought I’d ask the people here, you seem to have the answers.
Any input? Anyone booked a vacation rental home with them?

I rented a vacation lake home for a few days over Christmas in Northeastern Wisconsin about six years ago through VRBO. It was spendy, but certainly not a scam of any kind

I have never had a problem with them. I’ve used them in Fla, Mont., Minnesota (at Izaty’s) and Colorado. I’m trying to find something in Hawaii right now. It has always worked for me and my family. Good Luck!

We have booked several homes thru them and will be spending our third year in the same house next year. We have booked in MN and CO with only one bad experience. It was a beautiful home on a lake but the owners left a lot to be desired. There were no reviews online which should have been our first clue and they didn’t show at all while we were there and we had plenty of issues. We talk to owners now before renting to get a feeling and have had really good luck since then. Like I said only one bad experience. Let me know if you have any questions.

I’ve used this site in the past and it is a good deal and allows you to be picking on what and were you will be staying. I’ve had some good luck in being able to rent a house cheaper than staying at a resort.

This is simply an ad service for private owners of homes, vacation homes, timeshares, etc. to post / sell weeks of their ownership to the public.

VRBO is not the owner of the property.

You will have to contact the owner thru the website / via phone / email.

I would ask for references from people that have stayed with them before.

We have used VRBO several times and always been satisfied with the results. Pokegama, Rainy and Gull Lakes and several Mexico timeshares.

Understand Damage Deposits, contracts, charges per person and pet policies. Renting vacation homes is a better way to travel for a family, with small children, that needs access to kitchens, etc.

My family and I have rented several houses over the past 7 years in Mn, Wi and the Caribbean..

We rented a house in Deadwood, SD at the end of August. We were very pleased and we would definitely use VBRO again. I was a little nervous when it came to sending a deposit. We talked to the owner by phone which helped ease my mind.

I’ve rented 6 or 7 places through them. Every one was top notch IMHO.

Definately better than any resort. Much nicer and usually cheaper than a resort or hotel. I’m working on one in Hawaii for January of 2013 right now. Its a third of the price of the hotel/resort and we’ll save a ton of money by not having to eat in a restuarant every day.

We used this web site 2 times for vacation homes. It is a great resource!

Every house rental I’ve done for vacation has been on VRBO. Great company. Will continue to use it also.
