I tuned in late yesterday although other then AP’s big run I don’t think I missed much.

Is Ponder in a free-fall backwards in his development?
Is it Frazier impeding his development?
Why isn’t AP getting 20 carries and Harvin 15 touches every game?
I’m not a football savant and God knows I don’t know enough to live in Wisconsin but the offense seems odd again this year.

Does Brian Billick want to be a head coach again?

There should be no reason Web doesnt get a couple snaps, Ponder hasnt completed a pass over 10 yards in 5 weeks (not sure if that is accurate i just made that up).

I disagree. Give Webb some snaps. I dont know who that sled is you are talking about.

    Webb can’t play.
    T-Jack couldn’t play.
Trade deadline is past and AP is here for another year.

I do not know what good it does the team or ponder to stay in there when he so rattled that he cannot get the job done. I do not see any problem with the coach taking him out and telling him he doesn’t have it today and he will get a chance to regain his composure and start next week. Maybe a qb off the bench might spark something and we win the game. After we lose to Detroit it is going to get very ugly.

Also we need a couple more linebackers, greenway can’t do it on his own.

Don’t you have to “win” a superbowl first

Ponder is struggling. Why? Multiple reasons and not all Ponder’s fault. Coaching, blocking, lack of receivers and him all play a part. We start out 5-2 and Ponder is playing well. Why? He got the ball to Harvin on short bubble screens and let him do the rest. They also got Rudolph the ball- 5 TD’s through 6 weeks. Well, now the D’s are stopping these two things. Now, our coaches must adapt and get the play makers the ball again.
Blocking–the line is playing better, but lately they are throwing every blitz package known to man at him and the line/Ponder are not fully recognizing and adapting.
Receivers–I don’t think he has a receiver besides Harvin who should be starting in the NFL. It would be nice if TV’s showed an end zone view more frequently. Directv should add that option to their sunday ticket. If we had this view we could see the play unfold and know whether the receivers are open or not. Without that view,we don’t see so much of the play and don’t know what is really happening.
Ponder– He is struggling. But, we need to remember he is young. 16 starts now? Too soon to be jumping off the bandwagon. He played well in the first few games–anyone remember the SF game? Everyone was ready to anoint him as the savior at that time. He has it in him, he just needs to get the confidence back, the coaching and some better play all around.
Joe Webb is NOT the answer. If he was, the Vikings would never have drafted Ponder in the 1st place. All Joe Webb has done is screw this franchise the last 2 years. Winning in Philly in week 16 in 2010 and winning in Washington last year. What did that cost us? We dropped from 6th to 12th in the 2011 draft and from 2nd to 3rd this year. Which hurt us!!! Imagine, we could have traded and received 3 #1 picks and a couple of seconds for the #2 this year. Do you think that would have helped a rebuilding franchise?

AP should have had more than 5 carries in the 2nd half yesterday. That one has to fall on the coaches. I know they want to limit him because of the knee, but he only had 17 carries all game. He can do more. Harvin got hurt, after coming in hurt and will probably miss this weeks game. Oh boy, that will help the already anemic offense!

I think Frazier is a good coach, not sure if the guys surrounding him are. I do think that Musgrave is an elite OC at running plays, just not passing plays. AP can beat 8-9 guys in the box or the top run D in the league. Maybe we need to hire a passing coordinator?
    Billick? Gruden? Cowher?
    Ok, that’s enough.

Ponder will be fine, he’s rattled and looks like a Deer in headlights right now, this is to be expected for a 1st year QB (at this point he’s played 1 full season)…The game probably looks like it’s moving at 100 mph for him right now, once he fights through the nerves of trying so hard to NOT make a mistake, he’ll be fine. The issue is with our lack of any WR threat not named Harvin. Percy is the ONLY threat opposing defenses have to worry about, so they stack the box (which makes AP’s numbers even more impressive) and focus on stopping Harvin (which surprisingly they haven’t, but Harvin is breaking down physically because of the amount of times he’s touched the ball and getting hit)

My hope is that we’re in a draft position to take one of the few stud WR’s in the draft next year and keep developing our young talent, we’re still 1-2 years away from making an impact in our division, the young talented teams like the Packers & Lions will be dealking with salary cap issues from now on and the Bears can’t keep getting bailed out by their Defense forever (or can they)

I don’t see Ponder being anything more than a 2nd or 3rd string QB. I didn’t like him last year. I didn’t like him this year. I didn’t complain when they were winning… but I also didn’t praise him then either. They drafted him knowing he was only slightly average… but their reasoning was that he was very intelligent and would “learn” the position. Unfortunately, Intelligence does not equal instinct.. and I think that is what he lacks. When plans don’t work out (getting flushed out of the pocket), instinct must take over and he has proven time and time again that he over-thinks things and makes poor decisions. He will never be a the caliber QB that Manning (either), Rogers, Brady is. Best Ponder can be is a Tony Romo type. My opinion.
