Get a Lennox, they have a quality reputation, and last almost forever.
Furnaces have a reputation for the heat-exchanger cracking, which is fatal.
We used to install ’em many years ago when I worked for the Union Pacific RR.
Lots of places handle and install them.

Hope this helps of gives ya an idea or two.

Must not have dealt with their Pulse furnace..

I do scab work and get caught I’m toast, sorry, but I have a Ruud (same as Rheem) in my house and it works fine, we seem to not get many calls on them also.

Just make sure you get a name brand furnace with variable speed fan. Leave the fan running at about 30% and keeps the entire house pretty close to the same temp. No more cold rooms in the winter and hot rooms during the summer.

Go with a 95% efficient. Rebates are great right now, in the process of converting my parents from oil to LP gas. Dad paid $1600 roughly for a 95% 80,000 BTU furnace and is getting $850 back in rebates from focus on energy.

He did not buy a big name furnace but from what he was told there are only a few manufacturers that make the majority of them and put different names on them. I’m not sure if that is true or not.

    It’s absolutely true.

And in many cases the nationally recognized brand name will be 25-50% more expensive.

We had to replace our central air unit two years ago and the installer showed me a “who’s made by whom” sheet for the brands they carry. For the unit we bought, the model with the brand name that you see advertised during Twins games was 30% more expensive. The difference literally was that the name badge bolted on the front is different. Same unit, same spec, same factory, same parent compan, same warranty.
