A while back, there was an article in the paper and on here about an Older Special Needs man who was forced to close his private boat landing…..($5 and a Dr Pepper I believe)
Did anyone ever hear how this all ended up?
I looked on line, but not knowing his name or the Lake kind of put a damper on the searches….

Archies landing on Shutz Lake in Victoria is back in action. $6 and a Dr. Pepper will get you fishing. Star Tribune has an article.

Archie had to raise the fee to $10 to help cover the costs of a new dock and other things.

Per the City Permit, he is open April 1 to October 31.
The City did waive the permit fee, thus Grandfathering him in.

Archie is happy to be open and again conversing with the fishermen and once again enjoy life.

Probably the best thing to come out of it is the Councilwoman that started all the problems and raised the awareness of this is NOT running for re-election and out of Politics, many Thanks to the many Fishermen and IDO members that wrote and or called her.

Thanks ALL for all of your help, Archie & his family sure appreciated the outpouring of help.

After all that he doubled the fee? $10 is too steep for that kind/size of lake. I wonder how much business he still gets?

Hmmm I know of a few others in politics that the above could be a good reminder for.

Good for Archie – as the brother of a special needs individual, something like this develops purpose in his life. I have met Archie and I have launched at his dock. Its great to see someone excited about his role in life and I also caught my PB largemouth there as well.

I am pretty sure there are a lot of bass guys who don’t mind paying that to access a lake without a public launch.
