The last two Droid phones I’ve had have on screen keyboard issues. Sometimes it’ll get to the point where the keyboard disappears while you’re typing, other times it just bogs down and becomes real slow. Other issues are present as well. Anyone else have these problems on their phones or is it just me? I have to restart my Samsung at least once daily to keep on textin.

We’ve had our Droids for several years (made by HTC)and did have a problem with the main screen fluctuating, going to a different screen on it’s own. This was fixed by taking the battery out for ashort time, and then restarting the phone.
On the Android app store (Google play) you can download other touchscreen keyboards. just an idea…

Oh you can? I was not aware of that…I may have to look into that. I just want a keyboard that consistently works, thus eliminating the need to constantly restart my phone. It gets old.

One thing that might work is take the battery out and hold your power button down for at least 10 seconds. This gets rid of any static chatge in the phone that could be bogging it down.

Well I for one don’t think that this is a keyboard problem for say, sounds like low memory, causing the problem, I would look at your running programs when this happens and your availabile ram, try closing some non essential programs when this happens and see if it gets better or not. I suspect it does get better, which in part is why pulling the battery or restarting the phone helps.

Secondly if you have word predictions on you can turn them off.

Thirdly I really like swift key key board, available on the market this far my favorite keyboard available.

I have a rooted custom rom on my phone it really helps manage memory better than the stock rom. Before hand I resorted to deleting lots of programs and keeping my phone as clean as possible with unnecessary apps, or download them use them and delete them again.

What exact phone do you have, and how old is it? Sometimes, if you have too much stored on the phone’s internal memory it can bog down the phone, or if your memory card has too much stored on it as well, same thing goes…

It’s not a memory or storage problem as the phone has hardly anything on it, and not many apps. The apps I do have don’t run constantly. It’s a glitch of some sort, because most of the day it’ll be fine, then all the sudden, act up and need to be reset. I have to restart my phone at least once per day. Gets old.

Oh, and it’s a samsung droid charge, don’t believe it’s very old. It’s a 4G phone so it can’t be terribly old.

Hmm, I was going to ask if it was a Samsung running TouchWiz. I had issues with that initially that have gone away. I have no explanation for that.

I had a first Gen Droid up until July. No matter how well maintained it was, it seemed to be buggy and slow.

If you can’t bring it in without being charged, I’d try rooting it.

Although the fact it has happened to you on 2 phones makes me suspicious that you may have a leaky app installed. If it were a phone issue, lots of people would be complaining on the internet and it would become a known issue.
