Zebra Mussels

    For the guys who leave there boat in the water all season on pool 4. I pulled my boat out of the water over the weekend and for some strange reason I didn’t have any zebra’s hanging off the bottom of my hull or attached to the inlet or outlet holes. Last year I could of filled a ice cream pail full of them. Just wanted to know if anyone else had this experience this season. I was happier than all get out. Only took me an hour to clean her this year also.

    Did you have an AIS sticker on it this yr ?
    maybe it kept the zebes away

    Actually I did, back when the DNR could not make their mind up to have stickers on or not. I put one on just incase I would have happened to be visited by one of those nice fellas.

    We leave our boat in pool 2 from spring to late fall every year. Never had a zebra problem yet.

    I have noticed this aswell, I think with the water as low as it is as warm as it got and for how long the water was hot had an affect on them. It also depends on where your boat slip is too and how much your boat gets used will play a roll. I know I have not seen as many zeebs I thought I would. Alot of people that I have talked to when they pulled their boats out are amazed how little zebra mussels they have on their boat. But I have had people look at their boat over quick and not see any, but upon closer inspection indeed they would have very small zebra mussels attached.

    There you go. There was something to that sticker. Mines in the glove box so of course my boat is also zebe free.

    I keep my boat in a marina and I try to use it every weekend unless someone tells me differently.
