Is there a Perfect Point of View Video Camera?

To connect the two, all you need is a double arm socket. You choose the length. They make some very short ones that might be perfect for your application.

What I like about the RAM mount solution is it is bullet-proof and holds the cameras rock-steady through just about anything you’re likely to throw at it and you retain a wide range of movement to aim the camera head.

Will these cameras except an external mic? If not, how is the sound compared to a stock GoPro2? Also, what is the depth of field on these cameras. Will they capture a deer at 50yards?

Yes, the VIO accepts an external mic and will do video out to a larger monitor should you choose to do so.

The point of View camera’s generally speaking do not have optical or digital zoom. So the farther away you are from the target the results will diminish greatly. If you want better results for lengthy shots a different camera with Zoom or long range lenses may be the ticket. But for POV close in shots, mounting options, stealth, the VIO, GoPro’s and others excell greatly in this area.

Exactly. There’s no zoom on POV cams. You get a fixed field of view. A deer at 50′ is going to look pretty small. These POV cameras will do best when you have deer inside 40’… right about the time you loose that arrow.

It seems I’m just gonna have to take you up on your offer and test out the camera this fall yet.

Let me know when. We have more than enough to let you put one in the field for a trial.

$400 is really a steal for that much technology. Great buy.

As a pro and with only a cursory look at the site, the only add I’d mention is to include an optical screw on front lens to cut the field of vision down to 45 degrees. It’s tuff getting a zoom out there since they are energy hogs, but with an image occupying only 10% of a screen, the footage is lost.
most of this technology is derivative of the work that Raytheon did during and shortly after Vietnam. I’ve used some of the cameras they did for DOD and they were amazing and very inexpensive. WAY beyond my nikon/canons at half the cost.
    Nice find, James.
