A lot of you will be purchasing fall decoration soon that includes corn stalk bundles, indian corn, various squashes and pumpkins. I have noticed that prices vary wildly for these items. In remote Wi they wanted $2 for a large pumpkin and here close to my house in Woobury a private person took $5 for the same size as well as $3.50 for corn stalk bundles. Her smaller yet normal sized pumpkins were even less and her stalk bundles were huge. The big name places like zywiecs in Hastings want almost twice that for stalks and .45/lb for pumkins. That would put the same size one I just purchased around $8. Way over priced. Watch the prices and dont overlook the mom & pop operations. You’ll save a lot of money and support good honest people.

I saw 3 places (mom & pop) that had $2 pumpkins in my drive through Prescott to Everts last weekend. Through that was a pretty good price.

October 1, 2012 at 6:28 pm #1102292Thanks for the PPSA! I saw pumpkins at Sam’s Club for around $8 a pumpkin, and thought to myself yikes!! I suppose people are just paying for convience there.
October 1, 2012 at 6:42 pm #1102298So the message here is that you should avoid driving very far to buy a cheap pumpkin because if you use even one gallon of gas you’ll lose money on the deal.

Drive 20 miles to a rural pupkin farm- $2 pumpkin + $6 gas
Buy a pumpkin at the grocery store- $8I’m not seeing the savings?
October 1, 2012 at 7:10 pm #1102301I think the message here is that if you’re going to be driving through rural areas anytime soon like many people are this time of the year, keep an eye out for good deals on pumpkins and the like!

If it takes you that much to get out of town and back and you dont have any other reasons to leave the big city and you only buy one pumpkin per season then saving a few bucks on pumpkins is not for you. Please disregard. This post for serious pumkineers only.
October 1, 2012 at 8:18 pm #1102306Take a ride down Hwy 95, from St Cloud to Princeton in the dark… pumpkins as far as the eye can see along the route
October 1, 2012 at 9:53 pm #1102318I think the real message is that Suzuki would be happy to get everyone a $3 pumpkin
October 1, 2012 at 10:17 pm #1102327Noticed a good size pumpkin on the front of a tuna boat while locking threw on Friday. The gal told me they took there boat to red wing to buy pumpkins for the kids because they are cheaper down there.
October 1, 2012 at 10:18 pm #1102328Reminds me of a joke. Q:What do hillbillies do for Halloween? A: They pump k…. Never mind. Kind of naughty.

October 2, 2012 at 1:41 am #1102374I still got those seeds you sent me for those 800 lb. pumpkins Czech, I’m glad I didn’t plant them this year because of the drought, hopefully next year. Next year if you want some of the seeds back just message me and I’ll send.
What a nice next couple weekends for a drive to see the color, and if happen to be, drive by a mom and pop acerage, stop to buy a cheap pumpkin and maybe some Indian corn.
