Using Chrome or IE, pages like Google won’t load.

Yahoo page loads, but when we type in something to search for it just sits there and grinds away.

All the bookmarks in the tool bar work fine.

If I type in http://www.facebook.com into a search box on the google page….nothing. If I type in the same in the url bar it works.

I’ve cleared the computer of everything. History/cookies/cashe everything.

We’ve done the same with the browsers.

    Defraged as well.

I was told you guys have all the answers to anything worth questioning.

    What next?

Disconnect power to the router for a few seconds and let it re boot.

How can you type it in if it won’t load?

If I knew someone was technical enough, I’d say they messed with your host file as a joke. But I doubt that is it. Plus, when I play that trick I always send them to an embarrassing site when they try going to Google.

unplug router/modem. wait 20 secs and plug it back in. goto the DOS screen. start, run, cmd. black screen comes up type ipconfig /release wait till its done. then type ipconfig /renew. go in to chrome and in the address bar type about:plugins disable/enable flash. sometimes chrome doesn’t want to load with flash for some reason.

I don’t know the answer but when I have any PC issues that nobody knows how to fix, I go to pcworld.com and go to the forums. They have helped me with numerous issues, so many I can’t even begin to explain. Just an idea…GL to ya!!!

Click START then in the search box type:

    notepad.exe C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

    then press “ENTER”.

This is the hosts file. Make sure that each line in that file has a # (number sign) in front of it. Unless you are a programmer, there shouldn’t be anything in there. If there is a bunch of stuff in there, please send me a PM and I’ll try and tell you what’s going on, but first put a # in front of each line and save it.

If there is a # in front of each line, then go to this website: http://www.dcwg.org/

This will check to see if you are infected with a DNS redirector virus. The web page will tell you if you have that problem or not.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Use the “System Restore” utility in Windows and restore to a date from before this problem started. An easy, no risk, no expense solution that often fixes “mystery problems.”

    Good luck.
