I was out on the river yesterday and running for about an hour and a half and stopped for a rest. As soon as I started back up and got under way I throttled up to full but the boat wouldnt get past half throttle or so and sounded like it was drowning itself. Almost like I had something in the prop hung up. I put it in neutral and throttled up full throttle but under a load it wouldnt… any suggestions so I’m not just throwing money at several different assumptions?

FICHT or carb? Evinrudes were FICHT; Johnsons were carbed then. I had a 115 Johnson. Unsure if they still made the Faststrike carb in that year..

Fuel, electrical and compression. If it’s a FICHT don’t overlook compression.

I’ve seen power packs fail with similar symptoms. A mechanic will have to test that one.

Fuel pump, primer bulb, fuel filter and if you can rule out fuel then it’s onto the electrical side of things. Hopefully it’s as simple as a spark plug.

Gelled up fuel line? I put an in-line automotive fuel filter in mine. (1986 120 Evinrude).
