Looks like the Badgers dodged a bullet in this weeks game. I wonder who Bielema will have to fire to cover his a$$ this week. Now that all of Alvarezs’ assistant coaches are gone the real Bielema is starting to show.

Very lucky indeed. Had it not been for the punt return and the missed field goal we would be 1-2. The defense did not play that badly except that they got burned on a play that looked similar to the 2 plays that NI beat them on. I know they wanted to run the ball, but sometimes you just have to try something else when your plans are not working. It might be a long season.

September 16, 2012 at 3:44 am #1099067I’ve been blasted on this site a lot over the last two years for being critical of Beilima. I’ve said for about 4 years that the playcalling of Paul Cryst (sorry if I mispelled this) saved the Badgers from awful timeouts, urine poor special teams, awful secondarys (look at the 4 years of Aaron Henry).
So, now that all of the assistant coaches are gone, the holes in his coaching ability are blatantly obvious. The Badgers have been regarded as a top producer of Offensive lines and running backs for the last 15-20 years. 4 O-linemen were drafted last year alone. Somehow, this year there are no suitable replacements and the line looks awful.
The Badgers are becoming the Chicago Bears of the Big 10. They’re going to need special things to happen in order to win, they’re going to need defensive TD’s, special teams td’s and mistakes by opponents if they hope to finish any better than 6-6.
Recruiting has not been good. The best players over the last 5 years have for the most part not been Beilima recruited players. J.J. Watt was a transfer, Russel Wilson, transfer, Abrederus – walk on, Everidge, transfer and the list goes on. With that history, I find it hard to believe he’s ever going to be able to recruit a real QB out of high school.
These kids are going to expect a transfer to come in and take the time they’ve worked for. Now tack on the fact that there’s no O line to protect them. The running backs can’t gain yards to ease the load on a qb. I see so many problems with this years team that scare me a lot for the future.
For all the Beilima lovers out there that said my expectations were too high because Don Morton sucked decades ago, enjoy what you wished for. You have Don Morton #2 on your hands. The Badgers were a few lucky breaks away from losing to three unranked non conference teams in a row.
How do you think they’re going to do against, OSU, MSU, MI, Nebraska this year? I’m not very optimistic.
September 16, 2012 at 1:07 pm #1099081I thought yesterday that Minnesota would not be able to beat Wisc this year , but after watching that miserable performance by Wisc last night, I may have to reconsider my final rankings for the Gophers ,,, Looks like Wisc has alot of issues ……

September 16, 2012 at 5:03 pm #1099111Not really a Wisconsin fan being from Michigan. A local quarterback from Sturgis has committed to Wisconsin. A really good QB from a nice family…wish him good luck
September 16, 2012 at 11:48 pm #1099147Never been a fan of BB. O-line is over-rated, and Ball’s “Heisman Season” has been scuttled. I didn’t expect the replacement line coach to make earth shattering changes, but where does the offense co-ordinator fit into this snafu? Is he next to go? Alvarez isn’t gonna put up with this long. Stay tuned, Bucky.
September 18, 2012 at 2:58 am #1099385I think it is time to clean house. Start at the top Barry has to go. I don’t think we need the highest paid AD in the country. And by the way WHO picked BB? Just my 2 cents.
