How many hours is a good range for a Silverado 1500 5.3 with 71k on it? Not sure how many it has but would like to have a good basis when I ask. Thanks.

How many hours?

OK, I’ll bite. Since when did hours on a truck matter? But, if you can tell me how fast those 71,000 miles were driven I think I can up with the hours.
After further review………..nope I can’t.
September 3, 2012 at 2:06 am #1096322I figured the first bite would ask if they were city or highway miles, which is why I was hoping for a healthy range. But if, like you say, hours on a truck don’t matter then that is an o.k. answer to me.
September 3, 2012 at 2:12 am #1096323Well if you take the years old the truck is and multiple that by 365 and again by 24 you should be able to get a idea of how many hours that truck has been around.

Ha nice!I wouldn’t be too concerned about hours. Depending on what year and trim package, I think you can access it through the trip meter. Where it goes from odo to trips and then I think personal hours will show up and then business hours and then total hours after that. If that makes sense!?
September 3, 2012 at 3:59 am #1096335What about the Over Time?
Hours are not common in Gas HWY vehicles, some diesel though.

What year? My 07 has an hour meter on it and it has around 80,000. I could give you an idea of hours.

September 3, 2012 at 4:10 am #1096338And my truck has about 300 hrs in 10,000 miles on it. 6.6 2012 Dura Max. Oh yea it’s, 5 1/2 months old.
igotonePosts: 1746September 3, 2012 at 11:43 am #1096349guessing around 1800 hrs on it
I have a 5.3 with 60,047 miles and it has 1495.5 hrs on ithope this helps ya
that’s not many hours really – but then if the oil never been changed – it would BSeptember 3, 2012 at 4:32 pm #1096378I’ve got a 2003 Silverado 1500 w/5.3 and it’s got 128,000 on it and runs very good. Routine maintenance and an occasional “Holy crap, how much??” for items like a fuel pump is normal. Just like anything else, if you decide to keep it for an extended period of time, there will be expenses.

very good point — fuel pumps are something that was an issue on the earlier ones 4 sure
best off to change out B 4 80,000 – they have a better one now a days – get it done B 4 it has to B done –
done 2 of them – one was over 800 bucks had to have done
the other one was 300 when I GOT it done B 4 failureSeptember 3, 2012 at 10:07 pm #1096411I’ll keep up with the routine maintenance stuff and take care of irregular repairs when they rear their ugly heads. But this truck’s main role will be to sit in the garage until I have the need to tow something (4k/mi a year max); so I don’t want to buy anything new.
It will be replacing an old SUV so I’m a potential 1st-time pickup owner trying to cover any and all deets on something slightly foreign to me.
Again, thanks for those who offered helpful input.
September 5, 2012 at 4:58 pm #1096767In case anyone cares to know, the truck had 2,336 hours on it. and is now sitting in my garage
