I plan on hauling a canoe 350 miles of interstate. I have a hitch extender and with this i have to leave the tailgate down. My question, will this cause any damage to the tailgate during the trip or would i be better off removing the tailgate? thanks, Pout

No you will be fine.I would put some of the weight on the gate to keep it from bouncing up and hitting the boat.Depending on the state your in and how far it hangs out you may need flag or lights.Lots of guys leave gates down to reduce drag and improve gas milage.Don’t know that it helps that much.

It will be fine do it all the time. Leaving tailgate down reduces gas mileage
