1st time launch at rock creek in 20 years, very low water (under 3ft) swirving to deeper water, started fishing in 15-20 ft of water, no bites decided to move. probably 300 yards north I am into 1.5 ft of water, lucky for me I always go slow in water I’m not sure of..that did it – back to the dock..:( boat to storage??

I have used the rock creek launch fairly regularly. Yea the low water can be a pain. I use rock creek to get out to the Mississippi. Never tried fishing rock creek. Rock creek is just a shorter trip for me, rather than heading up to Clinton. Don’t put the boat in storage yet, should be some good fall fishing in our area….at least I hope.

There was a big catfish tourney there Aug. 18th. There had to be a lot of boats in and out of that area. Maybe some one from that tourney will coment on the low water conditions. I tried to find results of the tourney but I can’t find the web site that publishes tourney results.

I was just south of there and work a few wingdams over for bluegills. Fish for about 3 hrs and did not catch a fish. Just the day before the son was out on the same wingdams and caught fish with family, friends. Go figure.

That whole area, rock creek, shaft creek, sodus slough, all of that is way silted in. We used to ice fish where sodus and shaft meet, used to be 5-6 feet deep and held some bluegill and crappie in the winter. Fished it last year, 6″-1.5′ where we used to fish.
