    1) Welcome to In-depth.

    2) Funny she was fishing a Myr Mar launch and not Eddie’s.

    3) Steve will need all the support ($$$$$) he can get!

Now might be a good time to dig in the pocketbook and send Steve a few bucks?

Just wish there was a place locally I could give cash to him at.

Pretty common occurance on the Eddy’s launches I’m told.

I’ve seen this first hand too. I can’t fault the boat capt out of Myr-Mar. He is just doing his job and the resort needs every buck they can put in the cash register. Hard to turn away any paying customer these days.

They certainly can’t put up a “No Indians Allowed” sign.

As much as I would love to put my two cents in on this I will refrain as it would be loaded with several obscenities…All I have to say is ask some locals around the Lake Winnie are how they feel about netting and when they find nets or catch the nets out fishing loaded with dead walleyes by the hundreds…especially in the spring all full of eggs…what a waste…I sure the same thing happens on Mille Lacs

Why cant they impose boat rules that allow every paying cuostmer to keep the same size fish? This burns me up. As it stands it’s a classroom for racism for every single kid on that launch. IT IS WRONG!!

I say GOOD! Let them do it in public on a launch. I would think that the more people that see this and get angry and educated on the topic, the better off we all are in our fight to have equal rights for all! A few 20″ walleyes is probably sone pretty cheap and effective advertising on OUR behalf!

FWIW – I can’t fault the launch driver or the business – they need to eat too – just as Jon stated. I also don’t fault the woman – because if I could legally keep that fish, I would as well…….I fault the laws and broken system we have in place regulating this mess.

I understand you guys point of view but I fault the launch company, the launch captain and that woman. Regardless of the law they are all contributing to a volatile situation. And dont tell me they dont know it.

If you want to see a volatile situation, have the launch captain tell that woman she is not allowed to keep that 20″ walleye!!

If that occurred (especially if it were recorded….and the minute voices raise, EVERYTHING is recorded these days…) it would be one heck of a mess! The laws are the laws – and she wasn’t breaking one of them…..the launch driver was just doing his job.

Clear signage everyplace describing what size fish are allowed. Same rules for everyone on board. It is no wonder I only fish that lake about once every 3 years even though several of my friends go there frequently each year. I cant stand the politics.

Why not. A private business has a right to refuse business to anyone they want.

and then get sued for doing so. You can’t put up a “Whites Only” sign.

I wouldn’t put it past the tribe to put people on various launches to see what happens. As JJ said or eluded, if a Capt. refuses a non-white the walleye for her possession they will be the first sueing the Capt., the launch owner, the State, and anyone else they can.

Not hoping on this bandwagon but the business does have the right to display such a sign.

The problem with your post is this was a private club. ( I could not find any evidence it was ever actually opened.) They can post that sign just like you or I could post the sign on our front doors. Last time I checked all launches were public on Mille Lacs.

Federal and State law says that if the business is open to the public then prohibiting people to enter it based on race, is illegal. However, if the proposed gentlemen’s club is private, then he technically could discriminate.

No he’s to busy screaming racism at every court hearing for guilty african americans when racism is really an issue he turns a blind eye towards it but if he has a chance to muddy the water and start a riot he’ll be there don’t you worry

So which quota does the walleye caught on launches by american Indians count against?

Things that make you go Hmmmmm?

The extreme net man on the launch could have accidently knocked the fish off.

I don’t think this issue will go anywhere in the legislature
reguardless of who gets voted in.
It seems to me that past and current history bares the proof of this.

I truly believe that the only way this gets any attention is by supporting Steve Fellegy through the courts system.
This is such a hot and divesive topic that the only changes will come from the lawsuits of private citizens.

It just may take more than Steve standing alone also.

I wasn’t talking specificly about the Mille Lacs issue in regards to personal liberty’s. Also, lets not fool ourselves. The Walleye issue only matters to a very few guys who…………

    A) Visit internet forums.

    B) Fish Mille Lacs

    C) Own businesses or property on Mille Lacs.

By and large the citizens of Minnesota, many of whom don’t know where or what Mille Lacs is, could care less about the netting issue.

More people know more about AP then Mille Lacs.

The economy must be good! Throw away $20 to a person with a loosing cause. Then the cash the government has to defend our selves.

Yep!. Take a stand on a trivial subject while the rest of us struggle because you want to pay the government cash instead of putting that cash back into thee economy.

Steve is this income of donations tax exempt from a gift tax or any other tax? How does that work? I think this money given to you should be looked into. You broke the law to prove a point and bring that point to light. Any other laws broken that your follower’s are endorsing ?

YES! OP stir the pot! The green envy of entitlement sure goes in both direction!

This is messed up! Big time!

is riverweed really that ignorant on this? I guess if you have all these questions Steve has always advertised that he will talk directly to you on his cell phone. Secondly Steve doesn’t benefit personally from the donations made to the defense fund. Lastly don’t ever come here and spew off till you have done your research and make an educated decision.
