Anyone have one of these? Pros? Cons? And if you have experience, how does it compare to a Pflueger Summit?

I have 200e7 and I like them alot. They have 7.3 to 1 gear ratio and work great for swimjigs or any bait you want to fish fast. They are super smooth on the cast and effortless on the retrieve. I assume the e6 is 6.3 to 1? As for the comparison to the pflueger I really cant say. I have a pfl president and they are way lighter and fit much better in your hand. Dan

The chronarch is what the curado e’s were. I really like them. I have an e7 awesome burner I assume the e6 is a great all around reel!

    Dan,

You’re saying that the Pflueger President is lighter and fits the hand better than the Shimano? Just making sure I understand…… Any difference in the castability of your e7 and the Pres? If not, I might just find a President. I’m really happy with my Summit but they’re a bit harder on the wallet.

    Thanks!

The other way around I’m sorry. The shimano chronarch is lighter than the pflueger. I can cast my chronarch a mile but they have comparable cast control and braking systems. I have 2 chronarchs, 4 curados and 2 ceticas so I guess I must be a shimano fan. How much does the Summit run?

I would say just buy a curado E series on ebay, since they are basically the same thing. Problem is, a lot of other people must have this same idea, because they are selling for really high prices, even the used ones, on ebay right now. Even the old bantam and other models are selling for what I think are crazy amounts for old used reels.

Some people seem to think the japanese made shimano baitcasters are a lot more high quality than the stuff coming out of korea, I haven’t had mine long enough to say for sure.

    Just some food for thought.

You can take about any stock mid to lower priced baitcaster reel and up grade the bearings, and end up with a casting monster. The all ceramic abec7`s can be a little hot, a drop of oil will tame them down. Depending on reel easy to add 25 plus feet this way and much smoother operating reel. Curado E series do the upgrade totally changes that reel.

Check out the BBC boards some of those guys change reels like other`s change there underwear. Some good deals to be had.

Dan, if I remember right, the MSRP on a Summit was about $179.00.
