    I have a Phoenix trailer with swing tongue and broke the bolt for the hinge, do i need a certain grade of bolt for this or will any bolt work?? Any replies are welcome thanks

    No less than a grade steel 8 bolt should be used. Look online to see the markings on the head. Buy one long enough that a self locking nylock nut can be used. A check of the amount of slop in the pinholes is a must. Don’t tighten the nut, bring it up to the hitch pivot and leave it loose enough that it will still spin but not rattle jerr

    Yep I would use grade 8 also. Bad thing happen when you go cheap.

    I had the same thing happen on mine…. and luckily it, the bottom portion and nut rolled under my feet while I was hooking it up one day. Never imagined a good bolt like that should break. Luckily my dad had a spare hitch pin off a hay wagon that was the right size. Used that, and have not yet replaced. Local farmer told me from his experience, the pins outlast any bolt he has used. Not sure on why that could be, but in a pinch it is an option.

    The head of a grade 8 bolt has 6 lines on it, like the picture.
