That sucks! When you replace/purchase another boat, look into a gps chip (like those for pets), you’ll know exactly where your stuff is and can retrieve it with a few buddies – or with the law.

All I have to say is Karma will get them if you don’t. That sucks!!! Hope you either get your boat back or get a better one than you had.

Man that sucks, one thing you can do if you have Sprint for cell service and possibly others. Sprint has a feature called family locater, you can locate any of the cell phones on your family plan by GPS/towers.

You can get a 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th phone added to your account for $10 a month, leave that phone turned on and in the boat. You will need to charge it every now or leave it plugged in to a battery connection that is hidden. You can track it within feet of it’s location by going to sprint’s website on another phone. I use it to see where my teenage son is at all times.

    Nutz- GREAT IDEA!

Add this hard wire it to a constant dedicated charge circuit to a hidden 12v motorcyle battery and hide it in a deeply buried compartment and turn on the GPS option…

I think it could work. My four LEOs think so too. Works in cars since ?2005?…

Sounds like a good idea to me. Only I would hook it up to a 12V SLA so you dont have the chance of leaking acid. Mount it to the hull of the boat under the floor and leave it on.

yes, but some place where it’s accessible ‘relatively’ easily as few stay with a single carrier for an extended period now (altho i’ve been with verizon since they started.. woe is me.)

AND you want to show the system to the new buyer when you want to trade up.

AND a custom system is ‘ALWAYS’ better than a mfg install as the thieves soon learn where to snip.

just make sure to include the V-step step down if you are doing it yourself…

Yes, because you will need to recharge the battery once a year probably.

I would just get a GPS tracker with code though, I wouldnt do a phone. Phones dont do well in hot humid places (tucked in your boat). You can buy them online, they come with a program that you pay monthly like a phone and you can log in and see where the chip is and has been. I think the original use was to stick on cars to see where it has been, for parents to track their kid’s car. If you can get one of the “permanent” ones that are supposed to be wired to your car, it will be 12V and you can wire it to a 12V SLA.

Sorry to hear. might want to post info with boat and motor without stickers. I’ve seen some stolen boats with all the decals removed. my harley truck stolen a while back(with boat on it) he couldn’t get the boat around the house removed hitch coupler…
cops found him bout 50 miles away. he had removed all stickers from truck.
    stay on your insurance company.
you could a rig a low cost alarm up real easy. mega loud. maybe hooked to boat cover or a trailer wheel rolling…
as far as the swing away deal… they just get some chains and drag it.
my buddy had his boat in for service(blown powerhead) they stole his motor right at the dealer! blown up!!

Sorry mate, let me offer up an open seat anytime you want, let me know (would have to depend upon my schedule, but I’m not too busy of a guy) I’ll fish for whatever.

Naturally as a fish junkie I check out all boats in pass on the road, almost posted a Thread asking if anyone else does the same, the day your boat got jacked, I remember seeing an alumacraft, but I know it was a different model, that day.

But seriously let me know, I can always use a good excuse to hit the water.

Hit me up with a pm, ill give you my contact info.

we haven’t heard from Wes in a few days so lets get an update.
Wes, grab some high school kid with a smart phone in your area. tell him your story and have him spread the word… REWARD!!
    Cops check traffic cams??
I would say maybe gonna leave a boat in a public place for awhile, jack it up and take a wheel off. very common in FLA.
    hows insurance looking??
my guess is this thing ended up in a bigger city. get out the map… storage areas, marinas, scrap yards. all worthy of a look. signs etc.
Wish I was closer, I’d be all over looking.

No news from the PD so I haven’t heard if anyone has called in with any tips. I did ask about traffic cams and their response was that they didn’t have any!?!?! REALLY?!?! When you want big brother watching, he is sleeping!!

Right now just working with Insurance and trying to find a picture, receipts etc for everything that I know was left in the boat. I highly recommend everyone discuss their insurance with their agent. I found out that the kicker motor on my boat is not covered as it is a gas motor and needed a seperate rider. Still not sure what else is really covered as they only indicated that I needed a list of everything with proof of ownership of said items and they would see what is/is not covered after they talk to the investigator.

Do you really need the sales slip? What I have done is take pictures of my electronics on the boat and then took pictures of the serial numbers. Would this prove ownership?

So sorry to hear about your boat.

That just SUCKS Wes! I had an atv trailer stolen right off my truck I parked at the landing while I was out icefishing a few years back. I figured it was long gone and would never see it again. The cops told me that thieves can be pretty stupid with things they steal so keep an eye out. 8-9 months later I saw my trailer being pulled down the road past my house. I followed the jerks in my truck to see where they went then called the cops when they pulled in to a house 3 doors down from my place. In the end, I got the trailer back with the help of the police. It’s a long shot but don’t give up hope at never seeing your rig again. Good luck and I hope they catch the scum that swiped your boat.

Are there any Convience Store near you? They have cameras that may show something.

It’s pretty messed up how some people can’t keep their hands off of stuff that isn’t theirs. The sad thing is that even if they get caught the punishment is not much more than a slap on the wrist if they plead guilty maybe a couple months in the slammer and then they are free to steal more stuff. My guess is that it’s meth heads looking to turn a quick buck. Sorry to hear about the mess that whoever put you in that really sucks

What a heartbreak, dude… so sad, especially when the system fails you like it is failing you now.

Hang in there dude… it will come around!
