while fishing in the weeds yesterday, the trolling motor collected a lot of weeds and forced the motor to turn all the way in one direction, which forced the foot pedal all the way down. Now the pedal is stuck in the down position and I can’t adjust it at all. One of the cables in the pedal is VERY tight and thinking that is the problem. How can I relieve the tension so the pedal works properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the back side of the foot pedal is the adjustment screw for the cable tension, loosen it a little , then look at the pulleys in the foot pedal to see if the cable came off.if you dont see anything take off the plastic housing on top of the motor and check the cable up there. I had that issue on my max 80 a few years ago and it was a bent shaft. Good luck

Had mine do the same thing, and found the plastics that hold the cable guides on the inside had broke. Needed a new head on it.

Same here. Probably broke the plastic where the cable mounts inside the head. Not a hard job to replace.
