Well looking to find out how hard, how much or does anyone know who can convert a 1988 evenrude 25hp longshaft to a shortshaft.

Twin city outboard in shakopee can answer that for ya. Give them a call, probably have everything for you to do it too

I am going to tentatively say you can’t go from long to short without replacing the whole leg. Short to long, yes, as there is an extender to add. Can’t subtract from the long shaft.

Still call an OB shop to confirm.

Oh, I almost forgot. A simpler, cheaper option may be to get a jack plate.

You can go from long to short if it has previously been converted from short to long, if that makes sense? Otherwise you will have to get a new leg and gears and all that, or get a jack plate and raise that sucker up.
