After 34 years of renting I have finally had it

We have been renting from our previous landlord for 3 years now and never late on rent, at the end of last month he tells us he is putting our house on the open market for sale, which means it most likely nolonger be a rental property

I went to the bank ready to be shut down for a loan to buy a house, you see I have always paid cash for every thing I wanted and that never builds credit.. to my surprise I was approved That is thanks to the Snap-On tool man and Snap-On credit

So let the house hunting begin

You will regret it at some point, but at the same time not. I have a love-hate relationship with my house.

At least if things are busted it’s on me and not on some idiot landlord.

It is nice to own because you can go to your local home improvement store of your choice and spend your vacation installing a patio…..oh yeah…..that’s what i am doing next week. Home ownership=vacation time to work harder at home than at work.

Congrats on securing home financing and good luck in your search. A lot of houses out there on the market.

Condo my friend. Home ownership is not all it is cracked up to be. That is mostly sarcasm with some reality mixed in. Congrats Jeff. It is a fun process. Just be sure you do not over buy and become house/debt poor. I made that mistake on my first home purchase.

Our home on Eastwood Golf Course is going up for sale.

I am definitely NOT over buying, as a renter for so long I have learned a thing or two about fixing things around the house, I am thinking of buying a lesser house that needs a little work to save money, I have alot of friends that have alot of skills and BEER is better than CASH in most cases

Make sure you know all costs up front before you go to close. Had that happen. They told us we owed over $3500 more than we had been told by our realtor. We yelled and screamed at him for 45 minutes he finally came up with the difference himself. Closing can be frustrating at times. Be careful.

Might as well sell your motor home. We won’t be seeing you in your van, down by the river.

Congrats!! Wish I was available to help that weekend with the move but unfortunately I’m busy those days.

I agree with the condo idea, if only the garages were triple wide and 40′ deep. I’ve accumulated a lot of crap over the years.

I got out of a Condo/Town house and would never do it again. Unknown surprise assessments, couldn’t park boat in driveway, had to put car in garage every time, Nazi like Condo Boards.
Special assessments for siding, roofing, parking lot.

The monthly association fee was spent on unneeded repairs for “certain” owners (guess who?)

In my area, 3.9% is a construction line of credit rate. We have banks offering 2.5% for 15 years and 3.125% for a 30 year fixed. Darn near giving money away at that rate, if you’re qualified.

I refied for 3% and a buddy just got 2.75% this week. 15 or 30 year didn’t change the rate. Great time to buy!

Still… good onya! Owning your own loan, errr, I mean home, is really a liberating experience.

Just hope you have good neighbors. One bad apple and all that.

Thank god I did a little neighbor hood research prior to looking at it

Ya know like crime history and “bad” people that might live in the hood, we used to live 3 blocks from where I purchased but we all know things could be different on the “other side” of the street.
