Man I have been waiting for the local farmer to put his sign out. And the wait is rewarded with full bodied fresh crisp ears of corn that has so much sugar sweetness its hard to stop eating. This farmer has always had the best corn but this year is gotta be in the running the best of all time.

Do you blanch then stick in ice water? Then shave the kernels off?

You guys ever try cooler corn.Clean the corn, place it in the bottom of a cooler, pour boiling water over it and put the lid on for half an hour.It cooks it perfect and will hold it for quite a while.Unlike the microwave the cob doesn’t get 300 degrees. Also easy to do large batches and frees you and your stove up for whatever else you need to do.

Last fall, I saw a video, I think it was here, on removing husks from sweet corn very cleanly & easily. Anyone remember that?

It’s called Silver Queen. I lived down in Virginia and that’s all we grew. No one I’ve talked to around here has heard of it. Maybe it’s a stain that won’t grow around here. I haven’t even tried to find seed for it. The corn around here is delicious but I agree, I do think S.Q. is the best.

You’re right, I haven’t seen them around here either. Different color but pretty much tasted the same. They just looked funny when you’re used to nothing else but red.

I just put 20 1 pound bags of sweet corn in the freezer today too. I blanch it quick then cool it and cut it off the cob. Vacuum seal and freeze. Lake of the Woods walleye and Sweet corn in October

Like I have said I can not stop. Oh so many great suggestions and they all have there times.

I’ve experimented and tested against traditional ways and ways of the micro for quick tasty sweet corn.

I boiled, different methods always came out awesome if done at the right times. I will always use this when the time is right.

Grilled, Oh man you cant beat this. Rather labor intensive little bit more so than boiling. The results are incredible.

OK, I looked for fast that could satisfy my requirement sufficiently without degrading the wholeness.

I went to the microwave. Yes it works awesome on a dual or individual basis.

Did the, shuck the corn leaving a few husk one for three minutes turned out great, but as mentioned the cob is 900000 degrees.

Eliminated the husk thinking the husk are there for steaming. wrapped a wet half sheet of paper towel around the corn for 3 minutes same result awesome corn but the cob at 90000 degrees.

Then I slipped on a banana peel hitting my head on all those discarded husk and cob.,

Shave the the kernels into a bowl and microwave them.

If your a traditionalist that has to eat of the cob you will not like this.

One ear of shaved corn in a bowl at 50 seconds uncovered will taste the same as an ear of corn microwaved at 3 minutes either with shucks or paper towel or boiled. This fresh corn I’m talking about. Simple works in some cases and some times it is faster.

Try it and let me know.

Oh! I shave deep and gentile with the cob to get the most!!!

The best corn I know of near the metro is on the side of the road just south of Exit 4 on I-94, which is just east of Hudson, WI. It’s worth the drive from St. Paul, let me tell ya. I hit it up late last week.
