    rick,
you are way off the mark, they are taking walleyes by the truck load, many, many truck loads, not 5 gallon buckets

Bottom line is the lake is in danger and the future scares me. Both sportsman and tribal are pounding on the male population.

Good, maybe the Indians will starve. That will take care of the netting problem.

Which is why I refuse to pay for the walleye stamp.

The funds for the walleye stamp are to be used for stocking above what the DNR normally stocks. Except for the first $20k which is to be used to promote the stamp.

The way it sounds is that you shouldn’t be buying a fishing license if you were not supporting the stocking of eyes.

While it hurts me to see the direction the lake could be heading as far as keepers, it also worries me about the future year classes. How long can there be large fish with no new recruitment of other year classes. You all have to believe that the majority of tourists who look into a fishing destination want to be able to #1 catch fish #2 keep some fish. As I tour other lakes out of state in South Dakota and North Dakota, I always see Mn license plates, so I strike up a conversation. Just about every one has at one time considered Mille Lacs as one of their fishing destinations, and no longer go there. I know I just speak of my impromptu surveys, but not only are we talking fish here, it is the resort and shop owners also. I think a floater should be allowed to be kept, yes impossible to monitor, but in the livewell or on the beach their still dead. I’d be in favor of a 2 or 3 fish limit with less size restrictions. My .02 cents

I hear ya it’s just sad is all i’m getting at. Most die hard anglers spend a lot of money every year to fish and at times its almost like the money that goes to the state is just spent on fighting a losing battle. I just feel if people want to net a lake clean then it should be their problem to fix not the people that can’t even take home a meal from the lake but what can I do besides just be thankful I still have the right to fish in this state. Which I am, it’s just frustrating to see these things happen
