I use a deckhand 40 with a thirty pound river anchor…. not perfect, but fishing alone a lot, I like it. Use it a little less now with the new I-pilot Terrova, but still something I wouldn’t set a boat up without.

Mine runs off the main starter battery, and I have to think it has a big draw. I fire up the motor when running it. Have killed the battery twice over time between a live well running, and a lot of anchoring and not driving anywhere during a day. Maybe just me, but…

That’s why I have 2 batteries in the boat… One for the starter and one for everything else.

Check out Harbor Freight! Last time I was in there they had a whole variety of DC winches of up to like 8 ton for $150 or less.

At least that’s what I remember. Not sure if any are good for water-going anchor winches, but I figured it’d be worth a mention.

I have a 25 lb deckhand on my boat I bought this summer, since I am trolling or drifting 99% of the time I am in the boat, I have never used it. I would be willing to sell it if your looking for a deal, pm me. My boat is a 2010 so I’m assuming the deckhand is the same year.
