Last week my bride and I were garage sale-ing and I let a brand new, still in the wrapper electric carving knife follow me home. For $3 I couldn’t pass it up. My intent is to use it for a fillet knife, anybody else tried this? jerr

Thats cheap, I have watched guys use them masterfully, but I buck it because I am old school.
They do there fillets awfully quick though.

Should work just like a Rapala electric fillet knife… I think that’s about all they are anyway.

I won’t fillet unless I have my electric!

No difference. I hit all the second hand stores and buy them for $1-$3. Burn one out, throw it away.

Electric is the only way to go. Takes a couple fish to get the feel of what the backbone feels like, but after that you will forget all about the manual unit! Now you just gotta catch some fish to use it on! Tight lines

You’ll love it after what should be a short learning curve. Was once told if you want a good, affordable filet knife, get a standard carving knife. That will be next move after burning out my current one (hope takes a while).

I switched to electric three years ago. The electric has to be four times faster than the old method.
