I am looking for a good waterproof video camera to film my fishing adventures.

Any suggestions on mounting or securing it also would be appreciated!

Life jacket required at all times while fishing with BK. Things sometimes are hard to keep in the boat.

I’ve got the GoPro Hero 2, it’s good!

I would suggest something with a large internal storage capacity. You have to sort through a lot of fish in one day to get a limit

All sorts of Prosumer video cams out there. Many of the news men/women have shifted to 1080 digital cams, and that pretty much gives you the best of both worlds in optical quality.

If tuff/H2Oproofness of your case is your most critical concern, then the GoPro line is the most popular.

When it comes to mountings, a small pocket tripod is about the best for image quality. Failing that, there is a 1/4-20 ball joint head that will give you a wonderful tool. I always use a monopod, so i put one of those on the top and stick it into a drilled out seat base for my boat pixs. I also carry a 1/4-20 C-clamp camera base for unusual situations.

Use a 32gig or a 64 gig chip if you’ve got the machine to process it at home. Most gaming machines will handle it well.

If you are doing any nite work, you may want ancillary batt power and i’d suggest 12V for ease of recharge. I use boat lites and lately LEDs a lot and color correct after the fact. Belt patts are fine if you’re getting paid for the time, but a PITA otherwise for prosumer quality.

Tim ,I would think the Go Pro is a good idea, the mounting could be solved by using a gimbal mount on a pole with a simple 10 lb plastic coated weight lifting weight at the proper level needed.

I wonder why BK has NO suggestions he uses a camera alot.

PS : did you limit out today ?

the plastic that trumar points out will work, but in the summer you may as well use bleach bottles and lake/river water. We use that even in the winter so we have less weight to lug around. Allows 10# of other gear onto site.

goPro seems to be a winner.
