Probably not, they are more successful in low flow/no flow areas.

I find it interesting that the courts allow for non LEO to inspect my boat and write citations.

One of the many mis-truths and over-reactions floating on the Interweb when it comes to the New AIS laws and protocols.

    Keep the story’s coming …

Level 1&2 trained DNR AIS Inspectors can inspect boats but can’t write tickets. They can call a CO, Sheriff or Police. If you believe some guys on this board; they are seeing a tree, imagining a forest and envisioning a SWAT team hiding in the bushes.

Don’t forget the black helicopters handing out extra boat plugs, sponges and flea collars.

Per Chaska Herald & Carver County Authorities:

Zebra mussel apparently kept out of Lake Minnewashta

    The Chaska Herald

A boat inspector at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park in Chanhassen may have kept a boat from transporting a zebra mussel into Lake Minnewashta this week, according to Carver County officials.

According to reports, one of the inspectors on July 31 stopped a boat from entering the lake after identifying what was believed to be a zebra mussel on the craft.

The ski/wake boat was attempting to enter the lake at the county’s public access during the afternoon shift.

“Almost immediately into the inspection (the inspector) found what she originally thought was a leaf, but upon further examination was certain it was a zebra mussel,” according to county reports.

The boater was turned away and advised to decontaminate the boat.

The sample was collected and sent to the DNR for confirmation.

This is the first report of a zebra mussel being seen at the public access site, according to reports.

Carver County is proving funding for inspection programs at Lake Minnewashta, Lake Waconia, Lake Bavaria and Reitz and Hydes lakes.

The city of Chanhassen began an inspection program this season at Lake Ann, Lake Susan and Lotus Lake.

Zebra mussels have been identified in more than 30 lakes in Minnesota, including Lake Minnetonka and Prior Lake.

The Key Word here is “APPARENTLY”, hopefully they will print/publish the results from the Mn/DNR on Verifing if this was a “Zebra Mussel” or not?

I would also like background on where this boat had been prior to trying to launch on Minnewashta?

Was it moored/docked on a Lake knwn to be Infested with Zebra Mussels, or had it been in and out of several lakes?

This would give people more on what to look for rather than just saying virtually everybody is guilty.

On an nearby lake, I’ve heard, not witnessed reports that the Inspectors barely look at the boats of the frequent users and virtually don’t check boats of the lake shore owners, just wrong and totally against what the Lake Shore Association and City have Promoted as their reasoning for doing inspections, i.e.: Everyone will be Inspected.

Hold on a minute…I thought it was ILLEGAL to transport invasive species. So why aren’t the inspectors calling a CO or the Police or somebody about this? They might call the cops if you assert your 4th amendment rights but if you have Zeebs hanging off your boat they’ll “turn you away”? Why doesn’t this deserve a ticket?

    GOOD QUESTION ,
I’ll email the Parks Director tonight and see if I can find some answers.

I thought the job of the black helicopters was to spot people towing their boat down the road and then deploy the “plug extraction drone” to sneak up behind your boat and yank the plug.

I fished Mantrap for the first time on Saturday. When I arrived, I saw an inspector in a yellow shirt inspecting a boat getting ready to put in.

She walked around the back of the boat and pointed to their plug, which was still in the boat. The guy pulled the plug and started draining his livewell right there on the ramp with the water running into the lake.

I pointed out to the inspector lady (who drove a Prius to the landing) that their possibly zeeb infested water was running straight into the lake and she said it was ok because the guys told her that the boat was in their shed for the last few weeks.

I took a picture and I’ll post it up when I get a chance.

Yesterday I took a spin around Mille Lacs on the motorcycle.Pulled into the access in Malmo. Two young guys there hanging out in lawn chairs under the tree. I sat about 5 minutes and watched the guys on the surf boards with the sails (don’t know what they are called)

I pulled over to the zeb patrol when I left, mentioned how slow it was around that end of the lake. They agreed, seemed like nice guys until…………………….I mentioned they needed to go check the surfers, that they had as many zebs as most boats do. Funny, neither said a word, but both turned away from me. It’s as though both knew I was right or both knew they were pee’ing against the wind.

I can only imagine the pile of BS being thrown at these kids during the training period. EVERYBODY knows that this isn’t working, won’t work, can’t work. But, if we throw enough money at it maybe people will THINK it’s working.
