I have had a tough couple of weeks, all involving motorcycle accidents. Not all cycle accidents are car vs. cycle. Cousin in Montana lost her youngest son, Good buddies ex-wife is not around for her kids, Best friends nephew, and last but not least my fishing buddy and family friend lost his brother. So I have mailed out a bunch of cards and memorial money, said a bunch of prayers in the last weeks. I could go on and on about cycle accidents, usually it’s the vehicle not looking for a cycle, but in some cases it’s the cycle pushing it’s limits. Sold my cycle yaers back after seeing my cousin in the hospital, almost dead, came home and put the for sale sign up.

You buy them or build them to see what they can do, no man who has ever had a motor cycle, muscle car,or speed boat, can honestly say I never did anything stupid with it.

    I have a 94 Mustang Cobra and I have never…

Oh, wait, you said “honestly”. Crap, oh well…

I’ve had it over 135 mph on I80 thru the Rockies. I had it up to 106 on Hwy 100. It doesn’t feel unsafe at the time… it’s not till afterward that the sensible part of my brain kicks in and says “Whew! Nobody got hurt! That was lucky. Idiot.”

It’s built into the machine, and the instincts of the one driving. You will do it before you even realize you’re doing it. Harley, Mustang, crotch rocket, beefy 4×4, Pinto… it doesn’t matter.

We have to do what makes us comfortable, I quit riding on the street for 15+ years as it got out of hand and took up drag racing a bike, it was safer.

Just bought another bike and figure with all the drivers training I’ve had and the fact at 64 I no longer want to see triple digits on my speedometer I might have a chance.
Probably the kiss of death saying this though.

Speed kills is what the local cops tell you is the reason for their revenue generating speed traps…b as in B, S as in S.

Its driver errors, if speed was the issue, nobody should go over 10mph.

Like I said, speed traps are for revenue, if they really cared they would be out tagging drivers who don’t have a clue how to drive.

We regularly see people doing 75+ on the freeways with no problems, it’s when you get a herd of them tailgating each other and the lead vehicle looks up from their texting and see th semi pulled out and nails the brakes, it wasn’t the speed, it was the driver errors that caused that crash.

I ride extremely defensive, try to stay away from crowds and if possible ride on less populated roads.

It’d make it safer for us who are trying not to get killed out there, bikers, motorists and pedestrians alike.

Only the guys running the 300 hp’s.

You can’t just take some of the ponies out of the barn, sooner or later all 300 need to stretch their legs.
I drive it very sensibly, never have I gone over the 65 MPH speed limit.

Speed might not kill but slow speeds are much more forgiving.

Jeff you keep those ponies zipped up.

    “You mean this guy?”
you know I just realized something watching that video for the 4th or 5th time that it seams like the kid is playing a video game. Going at that speed there is no hope if he crashes. The old adage “Its all fun and games till someone gets hurt” applies fully here,

Sorry… the term “cross-threaded” comes to mind.

It was a reference to a couple posts in this thread… .

    Apologies for any confusion…
