My vehicle Ins. is due next month and just got a letter saying that because of midwestern windstorm and other financial market conditions, they must non-renew their coverage with me. It will also include my umbrella and home owners policy when they come due. 30 yrs. with the same company and then dumped. Can anyone recommend a good company. Been a long time since I had to buy ins.!!!

I have had very good luck this last year with 21st Century for my autos/toys and Ram Mutual for my home owners. I would suggest finding a good local multi-company agent and let them do some shopping for you.

X2. I haven’t had a claim for Justin to work. However his customer service to this point has been second to none.

The company is Millers First out of Ill. Over the yrs. I had one accident with a car that was my fault. No damage to my Blazer and 2500.00 to the other car. Then hail damage twice to my house. They said it had nothing to do with my claim history, just needed to reduce their cleints.

I have State Farm and no one has been able to even come close to their price on my cars and boat. They have also been excellent on all the claims that I have had over the years including my boat claim last year.

Got a quote with State Farm yesterday and it would be $800 a yr. more for car/umbrella/home/boat. The biggest increase was with the car ins. which is $450 a year. When we had hail damage several years ago, everyone in the neighborhood got a new roof except the people who had State Farm.

MN and WI are two of the worst states for insurance cos. in the entire county, believe it or not.

Vinyl siding and hail do not mix well. Plus, the storms seem to be more intense over the past 5 years.

Get ready for more news like this from your smaller personal lines companies and some divisions of the big stock companies

An unnamed guide took out a policy with Justin. The next day he took out his lower unit.

By the next weekend he was guiding again.

No snags, no bumps and he’s awesomely easy to contact right here on Ido. ‘Course when you’re a sponsor they should be easy to contact.

But as Justin says, check around but check with him as well.

was that 800 more than your other quotes or 800 more than the company that had to drop you? Maybe that’s what got them into trouble.

How does lowering the number of clients (income) help their bottom line ??? Sounds goofy to me

The $800 higher quote was above the company that dropped me.

liability reduction. too many clients for the amount of cash available for claims.

shopping insurance is a pain, you just have to find what fits you. We wanted to go with a different company that was 20-30% cheaper than what we have now but they couldn’t write a policy for our farm since we don’t live there. Everything else was a good fit but they just don’t insure farmers.???

State Farm insures the houses on either side of us, their claims were not nearly enough to cover the damage from the storms. Am Fam treated us well.

I had hail damage 10 yrs ago. State Farm estimated fix $8,000.00. I knew that was not enough. I hired a general contractor that had worked for insurance company’s in the past. When the work was complete State Farm had paid out $13,000.00.
I believe the insurance company,s first bid is low. When they see that you are going to do the work and not just take the money the price will change.

I would think a drop in clients would keep pace with a drop in available cash ??? Actually, since insurance companies typically “make” money, you would think it would outpace it and make it detrimental ? Or maybe most of the insurance companies profits, are from investing your premium… either way, seems backazzwards to me

I pay just a little over $600 a year with American Family and thats for a car and a truck. The gasket on my refrig. went out a couple months ago and frost forced open the door and I lost half of what was in the top part of the freezer. I called and they said all they pay for food lost in a freezer was $1000 tops. I gave them a rundown on what I had, alot of fish and deer products and they still sent me a check for $200. I didn’t think I’d get that much. I told them they could come look at the freezer to see I wasen’t lying and they never showed up, a week later I got the check.

I’ve been using Liberty Mutual for a number of years. Great rates when I put everything under them and have covered my roof claim great.

I suspect you’re in for a shock rate increase no matter how much you shop around.

The reason they dumped you, I suspecct, is that for some reason they suddenly realized they were significantly under-charging you. Something was updated somewhere and suddenly they realized you should be paying much more. Since there was no hope of jacking up a customer’s reate by $500+++ in a given year, the cheaper option was just to dump you.

A similar thing happened to my parents. Out of the blue their car insurance carrier of 30 years dropped them. No tickets, no accidents for over 20 years, 1 broken windshield. Dumped. They then found out that the cheapest rate they could find was over $100 more per month.

Could be BS but they said everyone that has renew notices in Aug. and Sept. is getting a non-renew notice. They also claim they are taking on no new customers. If that is true, they need to update their web site. Would be interesting to have someone call and see if they could get a quote.

It very well could be they are over extended in your area also. Insurance carriers like to spread the risk geographically.

Why not jack the rates and let people weed themselves out ??? Am I CEO material or what ? It shouldn’t be rocket science…

It’s more like investing most choose to spread their investments around and not put “all their eggs in one basket” per say. There is a chance to make a lot more to go into a high risk area and right a bunch of policies and hope that they don’t get hit by any storms, but most aren’t willing to take on that much risk.

just start you’re own insurance company called high risk insurance, you could make a bunch of money, or you might not. Then you just need to declare bankruptcy and try again under a new name. Sounds good anyway. G you can be CEO and I’ll be on the board, we could go far.
