Anyone happen to have a good recipe for washing skunk spray off a dog? I know the guys on KFAN outdoors rant/rave about a technique they discovered, anyone know what it is?

Not sure if my dog was sprayed or not but after a few days on the farm when I was on vacation he came back smelling a little “musty”..

Pretty sure the KFAN remedy is over the counter feminine douche. Have not tried that one.

that “recipe” works very well. You may smell skunk when your dog get wet for some time. Believe me if your dog gets sprayed you will know it Just used this recipe 3 weeks ago.

1/4 cup baking soda, 1 tsp. dawn, 1 gallon of water and 2 bottels of peroxide. Start with the dog dry, do not prewet. Mix concoction together and poor over dog scubbing him/her down. The dawn will help sudz it up. Let sit for ten to 15 minutes. I just let the dog run around the yard but dont allow him/her to roll try to keep them from shaking the excess off to. then just rinse off. Good as new

we do ten dogs a year around here with this. beats tomatoe juice or douche.

    1/4# bake soda
    1 qt hyd peroxide
    1T Dawn dish soap

this will be active for about 5 minutes. make it up, get it on the dog in 45 seconds, rub it in and let it sit 5 minutes. rinse off with water, do second time. if the first time was dry, you probably won’t need 2nd. If first was after “wash off” attempt, do twice.

You would be amazed on how easy it is, a tennis ball can do wonders if you have a dog that likes to retreive. if not put them on a leash and go for a short walk around the yard

Most vets carry a product called Skunk Off. Get it, it works. I know.
