Obviously somebody didn’t want me cutting grass today. I still have all my parts attached and no ER visit. But trust me. You really don’t want to be pushing a mower when the blade suddenly snaps. Blew a hole in the deck too. I found the other half about 50 ft away. Must be time for a cold one.

Good God man, count your blessings. Happy to see you posting here and not read about it in the paper

Back before they had “safety” covers over the chutes, I was hit by a rock in the head. (One of the reasons I hate golf) I can’t imagine what would have happened if that blade would have hit someone.

You didn’t run over a water turn off valve did you?

I’m wondering if he wasn’t trying to mow down those pesky coons and hit a rock in the haste of the pursuit.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. It was a Troybilt with the Honda motor about 3 yrs old. Got alot of hours on it. Strange for the blade to snap without hitting anything I know. I’m already scratching my head about welding a plate over the hole as it took out a mounting bolt. and somewhere I have a spare blade. Or maybe just go get another mower and up my CI. What would you other garage logicians do?

Hey BrianK. I know all about mower injuries. Worked 4 summers for Park dept during college and repaired mowers and supervised the summer help. Yep somebody ran over a lawn faucet. Had a bolt hit by the blade shoot thru a window across the street. Railroad spike in the grass can really bend a blade. And with today being the 4th. Had a guy have a sparkler wire shoot out and into his shin bone. Be careful out there.
