I have been reading the posts of pulling lead core on Mille lacs and would like to try it. I have ambassador 6500 reels would they be suitable? Would they be big enough to get enough lead core on? If not what reels would you suggest I buy. thanks.

Yes you can use the 6500. You really only need about 5 colors max. The 6500 probably has a better drag system than some of the less expensive line counter reels anyway.

To duplicate repeatable trolling passes, a line counter would be easier. Diawa makes a good linecounter with a good drag. The -47 has a larger capacity than the -27 reels. Do a search on a couple years worth of Brad Juaire Reports. They are all EXCELLENT, with a lot of detail, and frequently talks of his equipment and set up. He says “really all you need is 3 to 4 colors of leadcore”; so you don’t really need a large capacity reel to hold 10 colors. (each color is 30 feet).
    good luck,
I am also getting all the info I can and trying out ML trolling hopefully soon.

Accudepth 47’s. Put some power pro backing on and you’re all setup for salmon, too (or a big snag that peels off line… )…..
