Can WI get anymore ridiculous?!

So…where to start… the issues with the previous BASS tourneys and this current one, are just ridiculous! The DNR making boundaries on the tournament, yet, these guys pay the fee to have the SAME license as all of us. Makes no sense to me. I could go on and on, but to my knowledge these 2 tourneys are bringing money into the towns hosting, not only helping with the DNR fees with license purchases and such. A writer sums it up all too well with his blog post…Read this…

I edited the title, which included MN. MN has other issues, that I decided not to highlight, different topic.

The blog writer strikes me as an idiot.

To claim that the boundaries for a bass fishing tournament strip the anglers of their freedoms is asinine at best. Disagreeing with the tourney boundry and/or disagreeing with the reasoning or lack thereof is one thing, but claiming that the anglers are being stripped of their freedoms because a tournament that they CHOSE to enter is telling them WHERE they can fish is a ridiculous stretch at best. We are all now dumber for reading that blog entry.

That’s where you are wrong though, the tournament didn’t choose where they fish its the WIDNR.

And, the DNR is dictated by the WI govenrment, hence it is imposing on our freedoms. Yes, it is a little far to say that, but again he isn’t wrong for saying it.

The guys are choosing to fish the tourney….. they can opt out of that and fish ANYWHERE they want. THe tournament does NOT have to be held there….

I disagree with the bounderys and the reasoning behind them…. but to claim the gubment is stripping all our freedoms here is simply a stretch.

Kinda sad that the auther is just figuring it out. Freedom has been going by the wayside for years. Those that take liberty justify it this way and that. If you speak up you’re just a dumb redneck.

I’ll be quiet now….let’s all move forward.

This is not a freedom issue. They all could fish any where they want in Lake Michigan but not as a contest. They made a mistake and did not get things straight when applying for the permit. If they think they have had their constitutional rights violated they should take the proper person to court. I would think that would be a PR nightmare. By keeping to subject bubbling is making for bad pr. I see some one posted the email addresses of people in the DNR. The record is replete with angry people make angry threats. Most of which is on the way to the DNR. All of these flip angry posts do not help make friends at the DNR when it comes to next year here in WI. But I am game have at it.

The bass season around Washington Island is still closed as those fish are still really vulnerable in small spawning areas. The northern tip of Door County has near the same spawning timeline and situation… I personally think there is nothing wrong with the DNR granting the tournament permit for waters south of Sturgeon Bay, and keeping that added pressure out of the northern area. Miles of fishing opportunity left, and anyone entering the tourney can just not do so if they don’t like it.

Funny how those that live in that part of the state are the ones “not” complaining, except for the few that seem to be unhappy all the time anyway.

Boundaries are Boundaries, whether they are put on by the people issuing the tournament permit or by the orginizing committe, all tournaments have boundaries.I don’t see what the big deal is your still fishing although it may be a smaller area. Do you think that the sponsors of these anglers care if their angler runs 30 miles or 60 miles? No,at the end they want their angler on stage and their name mentioned and that is all that matters. Do you think that the crowd that is there to watch weigh-ins care if their favorite angler caught fish just outside the launch area or 40 miles away,I don’t think so.They are there to hopefully get some angling tips, autographs, and some FREE sponsor stuff, they don’t care where the fish were caught. All tournaments need some type off boundaries and in the end it is really simple, if you don’t like the tournament boundaries- DON’T FISH THE TOURNAMENT

The big deal is they would have brought in much bigger sacks. And yes sponsors do like to see bigger weights to generate more chatter on sites like this. Wisc. came up with boundries well after permit was granted or B.A.S.S. would probably fished elsewhere. And as far as don’t fish if you don’t like boundries you obviously don’t have a clue how B.A.S.S. operates.

I hope that the WIDNR unlocked the chains on time, inspect and sprayed down each boat before they launched. Oh wait, this is WI. My bad. Sorry Charlie.

B.A.S.S. is infringing on my right to fish the tournament. I even offered to pay off the entry fee in installments. I guess they didn’t like that my float tube doesn’t have sponsor stickers slapped all around it. Frick’en elitists.
