Just received word from a reliable source that we lost another on at Prescott last evening.

Buy yourself an inflatable and wear it! Buy your dad an inflatable and have them wear it!

To the folks that say they are too expensive…I say funerals are more expensive.

Reports are a 65 year old man fell off a dock and didn’t come back up.

They are still looking for him this morning and it’s still under investigation.

I heard the same thing this morning Brain.
Way to much of this happening this year, but then again, this year we should all be that much more cautious with the rising, fast current waters conditions.
Be safe everyone & have a nice 4th Holiday

Rising water means faster current. Even without that, the river is no place to take changes. Don’t go out alone or without a life jacket. Sad deal for the family.

…and a recent grad died on Tonka too.

IS it me or are we seeing an unusually high number of drownings this year…not including flood related ones?

I’ve been using the Float Tech brand for years and it’s the most comfortable PFD on the market.

They can be purchased with or without the Rally Jacket which is made from a waterproof nylon, had a built in hood and zip off sleeves.

    Check them out Here<

Not cheap, but then if a person doesn’t wear a cheap one, what’s it worth?

    Without the Rally Jacket…

    With the jacket…

It does seem like this is a bad year for these types of accidents. Maybe warm weather, longer season and higher water???

Please stay safe out there, especially over the holiday weekend. Wear floation and drink RESPONSIBLY (or don’t drink).

Can’t remember the brand inflatable I wear, but the danged things are so comfy I’m sometimes in the truck, loaded and heading home before I notice I’m still wearing it. Absolutely takes away any excuse for NOT wearing one- jerr

I where one 99% of the time but I still see CO checking people on the water and they don’t where theirs. Poor example being set. Just my 2 cents.

Wear one if you like, just glad it’s not a law.
And please don’t shove the suggestion down my throat.

I didn’t mean that it should be a law, but I know several people who can’t swim, have health issues, are drinking, etc. or any number of other reasons that don’t wear one. I’m just saying that CO should where theirs to set a good example. If it influenced 1 person to wear one and it saved a life it would be worth it.

99.9% of the guys on the river that have been on it for along time know the water and what it does. The problem is the people who decide to go out and do anything they want, those are the people who should take it slow until they get to know what water is and what it can do. If your fishing everyday like the commercial guys do, they see whats necessary and some of those guys wear thier jackets every time on the water because they spend so much time on it where the ratios are higher. It takes time and experience to learn the water and its surroundings, the more your on it the more you learn what you can do at any givin time and day. Some people just take it as an everyday norm and thats what bites them.
