52 to 35E to 35 up to Duluth should be fine. Try to avoid 4:30-6:00pm in St Paul if you can.

52 is all ripped south of St. Paul. Single lane, etc.

Just plan your trip threw town around rush hour.

There are construction CFs everywhere this summer. Massive delays all over the cities.

If possible, I’d try to get over to 35E and take 35E up through St. Paul and then north.

There is lots of construction on 694 to the east and west of 35 E, so avoid that part of the northern loop.

There is also lots of construction on 35 starting north of Hinckley in the stretch from Sandstone to Moose Lake. The route on 23 through Askov and up to New Duluth/Fond Du Lac can save a lot of time if things get jammed up. Look at this route so you know it. You can get to it via Sandstone exit or by getting off at the next exit north Askov/Banning. This is a remote route and there are few towns, so you can make good time to Gary/New Duluth where 23 runs right into 35 again.

There are signs that show the times through the construction to Moose Lake. If it shows a massive jam, believe it and get over to 23.

Post a report, I’d love to hear about Isle Royale.

yesterday afternoon we came down 35 from duluth to willow river. there wasn’t alot of traffic in either direction. another option would be highway 35 in wisconsin, not a time saver by any means, but the country side is something to see.

I think you can count on detouring around Duluth too now. Watch out for Polar Bears.
